titleOfInvention Glyceride oil based coating waxes
abstract This invention relates, in general, to a coating system which is a natural, renewable, healthier replacement of paraffin wax for paper coating application. The coating system is made from glyceride oils and is free of mineral hydrocarbons and their derivatives. More specifically, the present invention relates to packaging material comprising a substrate comprising a coating composition comprising a mixture of mono-, di- and triglycerides of saturated chain fatty acids, wherein said monoglycerides comprise 20-80% of said mixture, said diglycerides comprise 20-80% of said mixture, and, said triglycerides comprise 0-50% of said mixture. In a preferred embodiment, the glyceride oils are vegetable oils.
