| abstract | An adjustable accumulator (20) for delivering gases, liquids, or solids fromna reservoir comprises an inner tube (50) and a outer tube (60). One tube fits into the other tube tonbe sealingly engaged and to create a chamber in the interior. The tubes can move relativento each other to vary the space of the interior chamber. Another embodiment of thenadjustable accumulator comprises the outer tube having a drum (130) having a plurality ofnpartitions (170). The drum partitions separate the drum into drum compartments (180). The drumnpartitions fit tightly against the inner tube. The drum compartments are in fluidncommunication with the interior of the inner tube when the inner tube is positioned suchnthat a bottom edge (70) of the upper tube (50) is aligned with any drum partition (170) that is at a highernlevel than the drum compartment or is between two drum partitions which form the drumncompartment. The adjustable accumulator can be used to deliver vaporizable germicidesnto a sterilization chamber. A single adjustable accumulator can be used to deliver variousnamounts of vaporizable germicide to different sizes of sterilization chamber by adjustingnthe cumulative volume of the central chamber and outside compartments. |
