Methods and compositions for the suppresion or prevention ofnaxiallary malodour. nThe invention provides in a first aspect an enzyme that mediates in anbiochemical process whereby essentially odourless precursor compoundsnfound in sweat are cleaved to release malodorous compounds, particularlynmalodorous fatty acids, more particularly malodorous short chain, nbranched fatty acids. nHaving regard to the substrate specificity, the enzyme of the presentninvention may be described as an aminoacylase, more particularly, annN α -acyl-glutamine-aminoacylase. nWith knowledge of the enzyme responsible for the release of thenmalodorous compounds found in sweat and the reliable methodology for thenidentifying inhibitors of the enzyme, applicant is able to provide novelnmethods in the suppression of body odours. |
