An electroluminescence device having a layerncontaining a specific metal coordination compound isnprovided. The metal coordination compound isnrepresented by formula (1) below:n ML m L' n nwherein M is a metal atom of Ir, Pt, Rh or Pd; L andnL' are mutually different bidentate ligands; m is 1, 2nor 3 and n is 0, 1 or 2 with the proviso that m+n is 2nor 3; a partial structure MLm is represented bynformula (2) shown below and a partial structure ML' n nis represented by formula (3) or (4) shown below:n n at least one of the optional substituent(s)nof the cyclic groups, and the cyclic groups CyC1 andnCyC2 includes a benzofuran structure capable of havingna substituent represented by the following formulan(5):n n The metal coordination compound having thenbenzofuran structure is effective in providing high-efficiencynluminescence and long-term high luminance. |
