abstract | Disclosed is a method for producing glycine, whichncomprises subjecting an aqueous solution of glycinonitrilento a hydrolysis reaction in a hydrolysis reactionnsystem under the action of a microbial enzyme, therebynconverting the glycinonitrile to glycine while by-producingnammonia, wherein the hydrolysis reaction systemncontains at least one organic impurity compoundninhibiting the microbial enzyme, wherein the organicnimpurity compound has a molecular weight of 95 or morenand contains at least one member selected from thengroup consisting of a nitrile group, a carboxyl group,nan amide group, an amino group, a hydroxyl group and antrimethyleneamine structure, and wherein the hydrolysisnreaction is performed under conditions wherein, duringnthe hydrolysis reaction, the content of the organicnimpurity compound inhibiting the microbial enzyme innthe hydrolysis reaction system is maintained at a levelnof 10 % by weight or less, based on the weight of thenhydrolysis reaction system. |
