A process for polymerizing an olefin is capable ofnpolymerizing an olefin with excellent polymerizationnactivity, and comprises polymerizing or copolymerizing annolefin at a polymerization reaction temperature of 50 ton200 °C in the presence of a catalyst comprising antransition metal compound (A) represented by the followingnformula (I), a compound (B-1) having a reduction abilitynwhich reacts with the transition metal compound (A) tonconvert an imine structure moiety to a metal amidenstructure, and a compound (B-2) which reacts with thentransition metal compound (A) to form an ion pair;n nwherein M is a transition metal atom of Groups 3 to 11 ofnthe periodic table; m is an integer of 1 to 6; Y is O, S,nSe, or -C(R 7 )-; R 1 to R 7 may be the same or different, andnare each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbonngroup, an oxgen-containing group, a nitrogen-containingngroup and the like; n is a number satisfying a valence ofnM; and X is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydrocarbonngroup and the like. |
