titleOfInvention Use of substituted polyethylenimines for the sustained improvement of the adhesive and/or coating compatibility of polyolefin-based shaped bodies, fibres and films
abstract The invention relates to the use of substituted polyethylenimines for the sustained improvement of the adhesive and/or coating compatibility of polyolefin-based shaped bodies, fibres and films. According to the invention, a mixture is subjected to a conventional shaping process at high temperatures, such as extrusion, calendering, injection moulding, blow-moulding or similar. Said mixture contains a) a predominant amount of one or more polyolefins and b) between 0.01 and 20 wt. % - in relation to the polyolefins- of one or more substituted polyethylenimines, obtained by reacting polyethylenimines, in particular branched, spherical polymer amines, with compounds of the general formula (I): R<1>CO2R<2>, wherein the radical R<1> represents a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chained or branched alkyl radical with between 5 and 23 C-atoms and the radical R<2> represents hydrogen or a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chained or branched alkyl radical with between 1 and 24 C-atoms. The reaction is carried out in such a way that the compounds (I) react with the polyethylenimines used in a molar quantity of n(I), which is the result of the equation n (I)=fx(mPEI/43), wherein the factor f represents a number between 0.25 and 0.75, mPEI represents the mass of the polyethylenimin used in grammes and the operators "x" and "/" signify multiplication and division.
