titleOfInvention | Continuous method of making silicone emulsions having low residual volatile siloxane oligomer content |
abstract | Volatile siloxane oligomers are removed from annemulsion containing siloxane polymers and volatile siloxanenoligomers prepared by emulsion polymerization of volatilensiloxane oligomers by continuously feeding the emulsion tona continuous flow device for vaporizing liquids, ncontinuously feeding a stripping gas to the continuous flowndevice, continuously removing an overhead fraction ofnvolatile siloxane oligomers from the continuous flowndevice, and continuously removing an unvaporized bottomnfraction from the continuous flow device of an emulsionncontaining siloxane polymers which is substantially free ofnresidual volatile siloxane oligomers used to prepare thenemulsion. A benefit of the method is that the viscosity ofnthe siloxane polymer in the emulsion before the emulsion isnfed to the continuous flow device is substantially the samenas the viscosity of the siloxane polymer in the emulsionnafter the emulsion is removed from the continuous flowndevice. |
