titleOfInvention Dielectric composites
abstract A novel method of fabrication of periodic dielectric composites involving a flexiblencomputer design stage, rapid growth of the material according to the computer specification, nand vacuum casting of a second dielectric component. Certain materials constructed in thisnfashion exhibit a complete loss-free barrier to microwave propagation through the materialnfor a desired band of frequencies. Such materials could provide a novel medium for all-anglenwide- and narrow-band blocking filters, narrow-band transmission filters, reflectivenand loss-free substrates for planar antennas, and novel loss-free media for oscillator cavitiesnand waveguides. In addition a novel crystal structure, particularly suited to the fabricationnmethod mentioned above, is revealed.
