The invention relates to a method for formulating drying, preserving, immobilisingnand/or encapsulating cells with minimal loss of viability. In the method cells are mixednwith a matrix material which is capable of absorbing water and, preferably, the mixturenis subjected to a treatment which effects the formation of a continuous phase of thenmatrix encapsulating the cells. Such treatment preferably is extrusion. |
