abstract An agent for protecting plants against diseases in form of a chitosan gel with pH in the range of 6.3 to 7.0, containing not less than 0.001 wt % of chitosan with average molecular degree not lower than 10, 000 Daltons, preferably 20, 000-500, 000 Daltons and deacetylation degree not lower than 65 %, preferably 70-95 %. The agent is characterized by biological activity to inhibit the growth of plant bacterial fungal and viral pathogens. Water-soluble polymers like carboxymethylcellulose or methylcellulos can be added to the agent in a quantity of 0.001 to 10 wt % to chitosan.
