titleOfInvention Process for preparing amino alkyl silanes
abstract Preparation of an aminoalkylsilane (I) by (i) reacting haloalkylsilane (II) with excess ammonia or amine (III) in the liquid phase; (ii) evaporating (III) under reduced pressure, keeping (III) hydrohalide dissolved in the liquid phase; (iii) treatment at lower pressure than in (ii) so that hydrohalides crystallize out and are removed, and (iv) distillation of the crude product. Preparation of an aminoalkylsilane of formula R<1)<R<2>)N(CH2)ySi(OR<3>)3-nR<4>n (I) comprises: (i) reacting haloalkylsilane of formula X(CH2)ySi(OR<3>)3-nR<4>n (II) with excess ammonia or amine of formula HN(R<1>)R<2> (III) in the liquid phase; (ii) evaporating (III) under reduced pressure, keeping (III) hydrohalide dissolved in the liquid phase; (iii) treatment at lower pressure than in (ii) so that hydrohalides crystallize out and are removed, and (iv) distillation of the crude product. R<1> and R<2> = aryl, arylalkyl or 1-4C alkyl; R<3> and R<4> = aryl or 1-8C alkyl; y = 2-4; n = 0-3; X = halo.
