| abstract | An injection catheter is provided. The injection catheter comprises a catheter bodyncomprising a flexible tubing having proximal and distal ends and at least one lumen therethrough.nA tip section comprising a flexible tubing having proximal and distal ends is mounted on thendistal end of the catheter body. A needle control handle is provided at the proximal end of thencatheter body. The needle control handle comprises an outer body having a piston chamberntherein, a piston having two ends, wherein one end of the piston is slidably mounted within thenpiston chamber, and a compression spring in the piston chamber between the outer body and thenpiston. An injection needle extends through the tip section, catheter body, and needle controlnhandle. The injection needle has a proximal end attached to one of the outer body and the pistonnand a distal end within the distal end of the tip section. Longitudinal force applied to one of thenouter body and the piston causes longitudinal movement of the other of the outer body and thenpiston, thereby compressing the compression spring, resulting in distal movement ofthe injectionnneedle relative to the catheter body so that the distal end of the injection needle extends outsidenthe distal end of the tip section. |
