abstract |
Preparation of N-carboxyanhydrides (NCA) by reaction of the corresponding alpha , beta or gamma - amino acid or salt with phosgene in a solvent. The reaction takes place in the presence of an unsaturated organic compound with one or more ethylenic double bonds, the remainder of the molecule is inert with other compounds in the reaction medium. At least one of the C atoms of the double bond is completely substituted by atoms other than halogen. |
