titleOfInvention Network management system
abstract The present invention relates to a method for a network management system for the transmission of event messages, and a discriminator object (DO1, DO2), a management object (MO1, MO2) and a managed object (VO1, VO2, VO3) therefor. In the method, the managed object sends event information to the management object, which uses filter criteria (K11, K12, K21, K22, K23; K2A) to determine which of the event information relates to events to be sent to the management object. For this purpose, it is proposed that the management object or a time-controlled control program send a first request message for querying at least one event status of the managed object to the discriminator object, whereupon the discriminator object sends a second request message for requesting its event status. The managed object reports its event status to the discriminator object, which checks the reported event status using the filter criteria and reports to the management object if the at least one event status relates to an event relevant to the management object.
