titleOfInvention Micro-lens built-in vertical cavity surface emitting laser
abstract A micro-lens built-in vertical cavity surface emittingnlaser (VCSEL), having a VCSEL portion (100) for emitting anlaser beam in a direction in which semiconductor materialnlayers are stacked; a micro-lens (190) formed of anmaterial capable of transmitting the laser beam emittednfrom the VCSEL portion; and an adjusting portion (170)nlocated between the VCSEL portion (100) and the micro-lensn(190) for adjusting a distance (d) between the micro-lensnand the VCSEL portion. When constructing an opticalnsystem with the VCSEL including the VCSEL portion, thenadjusting portion, and the micro-lens, there is no neednfor a separate condensing lens and focusing positionnadjusting element. In addition, optical alignmentnstructure is simple with increased freedom in arrangingnelements, and the number of parts required is sharplynreduced.
