titleOfInvention | Method of purifying isophthalonitrile |
abstract | In a method for separating isophthalonitrile from a gasnproduced by causing m-xylene to react with ammonia andnoxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst, the gasnis brought into contact with an organic solvent having anboiling point lower than that of isophthalonitrile; a liquidnin which isophthalonitrile is trapped in a trapping step isndistilled, to thereby recover isophthalonitrile and thenorganic solvent from the top of the column and separate atnthe bottom of the column impurities having boiling pointsnhigher than that of isophthalonitrile; and the organicnsolvent is recovered from the top of the rectification columnnand liquefied isophthalonitrile of high purity is recoverednat the bottom of the column. Thus, loss of isophthalonitrilenand plugging of a vacuum-evacuation system caused bynisophthalonitrile migrating from a condensation system duringndistillation under reduced pressure can be prevented, andnhigh-purity isophthalonitrile can be produced at high yieldnconstantly for a long period of time. |
