A lithium ion secondary cell comprising an anode, a cathode, separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, wherein the separator is substantially made of a porous sheet, the anode and cathode active materials can be reversibly doped with lithium and dedoped of lithium, the total quantity Qp (mAh) of lithium in the anode and the quantity Qn (mAh) of lithium with which the cathode can be doped is in the relation Qp⊃Qn, the doping of the anode with lithium through lithium species produced on the cathode when the cell is charged starts when the charging is conducted with a charging current Ic (mA) under the condition 0.2Qn<Ic<2Qn and when the quantity of electricity Qc (mAh) is prescribed by 1<Qc/Qn<Qp/Qn and continues until Qc⊃Qp. |
