abstract | The present invention relates to self-polishing marine antifouling paint compositionsncomprising rosin or rosin equivalent(s), optionally fibres, and one or more polymericnflexibilizer component(s). The rosin part of the paint preferably comprises ammonium ornmetal salts of rosin and/or rosin qualities having a low content of conjugated doublenbonds, i.e. a low degree of unsaturation. The non-crystalline flexibiliser components have anglass transition temperature, T g , in the range of -45 to 25°C and are preferably selectednfrom poly(meth)acrylates, polyacrylamides, copolymers and terpolymers thereof,nacrylamide resins, acrylic acrylamide resins, polyvinyl ethers, polyvinyl esters, polyesters,npolyoxy-C1-5-alkylenes, polyurethanes, and epoxy esters. The fibers are preferably naturalnor synthetic inorganic or organic fibres or metal fibres. The paints have improvednmechanical properties such as strength and resistance towards wheathering. |
