A microemulsion is formed by combining (a)nwater, (b) a nonionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, nan anionic surfactant, or a mixture of such surfactants,n(c) a linear non-volatile polysiloxane, (d) an aminenfunctional polysiloxane, and (e) a carboxylic acid. Thenmixture is mechanically agitated until a microemulsion isnobtained containing polysiloxane particles having annaverage diameter of less than 50 nanometer (0.05nmicron/500 angstrom Å). These microemulsions are usefulnin paper coating, textile coating, and home carenapplications. They can also be used to deliver siliconenpolymers of tailored rheological properties to the humannbody. |
