abstract Wire rods to be implanted into blood vessels such as coronary artery which comprise a bioabsorbable polymer poly(L-lactide) and have a degree of crystallinity, measured by differential scanning calorimetry, of 15 to 60%. These wire rods are in the form of monofilaments having a diameter of 0.08 to 0.30 mm. These monofilaments are molded and shaped into a cylindrical structure, thereby forming a vascular stent.
