abstract | Disclosed is a method for removing a hydrocarbon solventnfrom a hydrocarbon solvent solution of a hydrogenatednblock copolymer which is obtained by hydrogenating an'block copolymer comprising a polymer block composednmainly of vinyl aromatic monomer units and a polymernblock composed mainly of conjugated diene monomer units,nwherein the weight ratio of the vinyl aromatic monomernunits to the conjugated diene monomer units is from 5/95nto 95/5, wherein the hydrogenated block copolymer has andegree of hydrogenation of 30 % or more with respect tondouble bonds in the conjugated diene monomer units, andnwherein the method comprises: (1) mixing a hydrocarbonnsolvent solution of the hydrogenated block copolymernwith heated water to obtain a dispersion of the solutionnin the heated water, and (2) introducing the dispersionninto a steam stripping vessel containing heated water,nwherein the dispersion is spouted into the gaseous phasenin the vessel toward the surface of the heated water innthe vessel under conditions wherein the vapor pressure P 1 nof the dispersion and the pressure P 2 of the gaseousnphase in the vessel satisfy the formula: P 1 ≥ P 2 , therebyneffecting a steam stripping of the dispersion to removenthe solvent therefrom and obtain porous crumbs ofnthe hydrogenated block copolymer. |
