A process for processing stainless steel slags, wherein these stainlessnsteel slags are crushed to a particle size which is mainly smaller thannabout 60 mm at the most and wherein the crushed steel slags arenprocessed further to produce a shape retaining mass containing thenparticles of the crushed steel slags in a bound state. Use can be madenherefor of a hydraulically binding agent such as cement and/or fly ash, nasphalt or synthetic material or of a fine fraction of the crushed steelnslags themselves since they also have hydraulic properties. Due to thenbinding of the particles in the shape retaining mass, the problem ofnleaching, in particular of chromium, nickel and fluoride, is solved. In ordernto avoid swelling of possible free lime present in the crushed steel stags, nthese steel slags are brought into contact with water to reduce the freenlime content to a value lower than 1% by weight at the most. |
