abstract |
An expandable stent suitable for implantation in a lumen isncovered with a biological material. In one embodiment,nbiological fibers are interwoven to form a stent covering.nThe fibers are disposed at an angle with respect to thenlongitudinal axis of the stent so that when the stent isnexpanded, the angle increases. In another embodiment, a stripnof pericardium is helically wound around a supporting stentnwhile the stent is in a compressed state. When the stent isnexpanded, the strip unwinds, but maintains full coverage ofnthe stent. Interlocking edges may be formed on the strip ofnpericardium to maintain full coverage of the stent. |
