A process for producing multilayer thin filmnelements useful in a wide variety of optical detectionnand assay methods and systems is disclosed. Also thenelements, made by said process, exhibit improved testnsurfaces whose multilayers include at least one lightnreflective layer or substrate, a barrier layer attachednthereto, and a reactive layer thereover having anmeasureable coating thickness different form theninteractive analyte of interest. The elements findnutility in numberous thin film assays systems includingnthose involving chemical, immunological and optical andnnon-optical determinations and particular innellipsometric immunoassay. |
