abstract | A recording medium comprises a base member and atnleast a porous organic resin layer formed on the basenmember. The porous organic resin layer includesnorganic fine particles having both hydrophilic radicalsnand hydrophobic radicals, a water-absorbing binder andnvoids. The layer shows a pore size distribution havingna highest peak found within a pore radius range betweenn3nm and 300nm, a pore volume of 0.2cm 3 /g or more and anpH value of 5.2 or higher as observed by a methodnconforming to JIS P 8133. The layer is typicallynformed by applying to the base member a coatingnformulation of aqueous dispersion containing suchnorganic fine particles, a water-absorbing binder and anbasic substance and showing a pH value of 5.2 or highernas observed by a method conforming to JIS Z 8802,nfollowed by drying. |
