abstract |
Toner used for electrophotography includes a polylactic acid type biodegradablenresin and a terpene-phenol copolymer. The molar concentration of one of the L-lacticnacid units and D-lactic acid units in a lactic acid component of the polylactic acid typenbiodegradable resin is in the range between about 75 mol% and about 98 mol%. Thenterpene-phenol copolymer may include at least one composition selected from the groupnconsisting of: (a) cyclic terpene-phenol copolymer, prepared by copolymerizing cyclicnterpene and phenol; (b) cyclic terpene/phenol (1:2 molar ratio) addition product, preparednby adding two molecules of phenol to one molecule of cyclic terpene; (c) polycyclicnterpene/phenol (1:2 molar ratio) addition product, prepared by a condensation reaction ofnthe cyclic terpene/phenol (1:2 molar ratio) addition product with one of aldehyde andnketone; and (d) polycyclic terpene/phenol (1:1 molar ratio) addition product, prepared by ancondensation reaction of a cyclic terpene/phenol (1:1 molar ratio) addition product withnone of aldehyde and ketone. The toner of the invention is applicable to a full-color toner. |
