titleOfInvention | Radiographic film material exhibiting increased covering power and "colder" blue-black image tone |
abstract | A radiographic film material has been disclosed comprising antransparent film support having first and second major surfacesncoated with a subbing layer, optionally overcoated with anhydrophilic antihalation undercoat, further coated adjacent tonsaid subbing layer or said antihalation layer, on each side ofnsaid film support a light-sensitive silver halide emulsionnovercoated with a protective antistress layer, said emulsionnlayer having chemically and spectrally sensitized {111} tabularnhexagonal grains or crystals, having silver iodide in an amountnof at most 3 mole %, based on silver, covering at least 50 % ofnthe total projective surface of all grains, having an averagengrain thickness of less than 0.30 µm, wherein said filmnmaterial is coated with a total amount of silver halide, nexpressed as an equivalent amount of silver nitrate of lessnthan 7 g/m 2 , characterized in that said protective antistressnlayer, said antihalation undercoat or both said protectivenantistress layer and said antihalation undercoat comprise, innan amount of at least 0.5 mmole per mole of silver halidencoated, an amino mercapto-triazole compound, optionallyncontaining one or more alkali soluble group(s), the structurenof which has been disclosed hereinafter in the text and in thenclaims. n A radiographic screen/film combination has also beenndisclosed, said combination comprising a duplitized film asndescribed herein sandwiched between a pair of supported ornself-supporting X-ray intensifying screens, wherein said pairnof supported or self-suppor-ting X-ray intensifying screensncomprises luminescent phosphor particles emitting at least 50 %nof their emitted radiation in the wavelength range for whichnsaid material has been made spectrally sensitive in order tonobtain a black-and-white image after exposure of saidnscreen/film combination, followed by processing of the saidnfilm material. |
