A negative-type recording material recordable by thenirradiation of an infrared ray is provided. The recordingnmaterial includes (A) an infrared absorbent, (B) an oniumnsalt, (C) a radical polymerizing compound, and (D) a bindernpolymer. The infrared absorbent (A) includes at least onencyanine dye having a partial structure represented bynfollowing formula (I):n nwherein X 1 represents a halogen atom or X 2 -L 1 (wherein X 2 nrepresents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom and L 1 representsna hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms; and R 1 nand R 2 each independently represents a hydrocarbon groupnhaving from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and R 1 and R 2 may bind togethernto form a ring structure). Also provided is a negative-typenlithographic printing plate precursor including a supportnhaving formed thereon a photosensitive layer containing (A)nan infrared absorbent, (B) an onium salt, (C) a radicalnpolymerizing compound, and (D) a binder polymer. Absorbancenof the photosensitive layer at a maximum absorptionnwavelength in a range of wavelengths of from 760 nm to 1200nnm is in a range of from 0.5 to 1.2 as measured by a reflection nmeasurement method. Both the recording material and thenprecursor enable direct recording from digital data by usingnan infrared-beam-emitting laser, and have excellent printndurability which enables a large number of good prints to benobtained without carrying out heat processing after imagenformation. |
