titleOfInvention | Method for determining the tumble number of a combustion engine |
abstract | In order to be able to optimize the flow conditions in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine and its intake port more easily, a method for determining the tumble number of a charge mass flowing into the cylinder is proposed, in which a geometric model is generated in a computer, which describes at least the dimensions of the cylinder, also neglects the dimensions of at least the moving parts of a commonly used anemometer, in which a flow differential equation system is solved for the geometric model and the tumble number is determined on the basis of the obtained velocity values of the flow in that partial volume of the cylinder in which the moving parts of a commonly used anemometer move. |
