In a producing method of alcohols such asncyclohexanedimethanol, a benzyl ester is obtained, fornexample, by the reaction between a benzyl compound andncarboxylic acid in the presence of oxygen and ancatalyst including palladium, gold ultra finenparticles, and at least one kind of element selectednfrom the group consisting of Group IIA, IIIA, VIA, IIB,nVB, and VIII of the periodic table, and alkali metal.nThe alcohols are produced by hydrogenating a benzenenring of the benzyl ester and then hydrolyzing thenresultant esters. Alternatively, the benzyl ester isnhydrolyzed to produce benzyl alcohols, and a benzenenring of the benzyl alcohols is hydrogenated to producenthe alcohols. |
