A method for determining the gas content, e.g. of oxygen innbreathing gas in a breathing apparatus, the gas content beingndetermined in the method from the speed of sound in thenbreathing gas, is described. In order to resolve the problemsncaused by temperature variations in gas samples, the methodnaccording to the invention comprises the step thatndetermination of the speed of sound is synchronised with onenor a plurality of specific times in a respiratory cycle.nDetermination can then be made when conditions are mostnstable. A breathing apparatus with a gas meter (18) for performingnthe method is also described. |
