abstract | The anti-19P2 ligand monoclonal antibodies of theninvention (in particular P2L-1Ca) have very high bindingnability and can neutralize the arachidonic acid metabolitenreleasing activity of the 19P2 ligand. Therefore, they cannbe used, among others, as diagnostic, prophylactic and/orntherapeutic agents for various diseases caused by some ornother abnormality in the pituitary function modulatingnactivity (e.g. prolactin secretion promoting activity),ncentral nervous system modulating activity and pancreaticnfunction modulating activity, among others, supposedlynpossessed by the 19P2 ligand. n The immunoassay method using the monoclonalnantibodies of the invention by the sandwich technique (innparticular the sandwich technique using the monoclonalnantibody and an antibody recognizing an intermediatenportion of the 19P2 ligand) can assay the 19P2 ligand or anderivative thereof specifically and with high sensitivity.nThis assay method can be used in elucidating thenphysiological functions of the 19P2 ligand or a derivativenthereof. |
