abstract The disinfection of an endoscope comprises contacting the endoscope for 5-60 (preferably 5-15) minutes with aqueous solution comprising 0-0.35 (preferably 0.01-0.15) wt.% of peracetic acid, up to 6 (preferably 0.05-4) wt.% of hydrogen peroxide and up to 4 (preferably 0.025-2) wt.% of acetic acid in washing/disinfecting machine for endoscopes. Independent claims are also included for: (1) utilization of an aqueous solution containing (in wt.%): peracetic acid 1-2 (preferably 1-1.5), hydrogen peroxide 5-10 (7-8) and acetic acid 5-15 (6-10), (more preferably composition A comprising (in wt.%): peracetic acid 1-1.5, hydrogen peroxide 7-8, acetic acid 9-10, Genapol 2908D 0.01-0.02, sodium dihydro-phosphate (12 H2O)0.1-3, sodium pyrophosphate 0.15-0.25, and optionally also 0.015-0.025 wt.% of cocodimethylamine N-oxide) for disinfecting endoscopes in washing/disinfecting machine for endoscopes; and (2) the above composition.
