titleOfInvention | Optoelectronic gas sensor based on optodes |
abstract | The invention relates to an optoelectronic gas sensor based on optodes, wherein a plurality of photosensitive elements (2), which are separated from each other, and a light transmitter (3), which is placed between said elements, are disposed in or on a semiconductor substrate (1). Said gas sensor is characterised in that the photosensitive elements (2) placed in the substrate (1) are coplanar and are, together with a side transmitting area (4) of the light transmitter (3) which transmits light in a side direction, covered with sections of the optode material. Said sections have a thickness and diffraction index which allow the light exiting laterally from the transmitting area (4) to be guided until it reaches the photosensitive elements (2) due to total reflection in the optode material, in each transmitting branch (a-d). The inventive optode-based gas sensor is in the form of a chip and can be produced in such a way that it exhibits very small dimensions, for instance a surface of 2x2 mm and a thickness of 250 νm. |
