abstract The present invention relates to a method for detecting a nucleotide sequence in a nucleic acid molecule by means of predetermined probes of varying mass using matrix-assisted spectrometry. One advantage of the inventive method is that it provides for simultaneous characterization of a plurality of unknown nucleic acid molecules by a salt from various probes. The invention also relates to a kit containing the probes and/or a sample carrier, optionally with nucleic acids bonded thereto.
