titleOfInvention | Composite materials, processes for manufacturing the composite materials, composite electrode, hydrogen occluding composite and electrochemical cell utilizing such materials |
abstract | A composite material of the formula P:(Q)n, or P:(Q)n:(Q:Y:Q)x:R wherein P is a substance selected from the group comprised of alkaline earth metals, rare earths, metals, including hydrides, and alloys thereof, e.g. any hydrogen absorbing alloy, and Q is a passivation layer which is in form of a layered material, said dispersed material being separated into defined layers, wherein the defined layers correspond to a thickness of between one and one hundred molecules of said dispersed material, (e.g. a metal dichalcogenide such as an oxide or a sulfide, or a selenide: MoS2, NbS2, ...) and Y is an inclusion material between layers of Q, such as metallocene, dyes, monomers, liquid crystals, organic solute, precipitates; and R is a material applied as a surface modifier to the final surface of the composite (e.g. carbon, Pt or Pd) and n is a number corresponding to the number of layers of Q compounded, and x is a number corresponding to the number of layers of Q:Y:Q compounded. |
