titleOfInvention Film packaging
abstract The invention relates to a packaging material in the form of a film which is transparent to UV light and which blocks the passage of water vapour and gases. The inventive packaging film has a support film consisting of (a) polyolefin or (b) an oriented polpropylene film (OPP) with a 0.5 to 2 mu m deep cover layer consisting of a polymer of ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH) or of a copolymer of ethylene and ethyl vinyl alcohol or (c) polyamide with a ceramic coating consisting of SiOx, x being a number from 1.5 to 1.8 and the depth of the ceramic layer being 10 nm to 2 mu m. The packaging material is suitable for packaging standard foodstuffs and luxury foods which are sterilised by UV radiation after packaging.
