abstract A nasal mask for use with a system for supplying airnwith a therapeutic gas to the airways of a patientnincludes a mask shell which is adapted to be put over thennose of the patient using the nasal mask; an air inletnport through which air is supplied from an air source; annexhaust port, provided in the mask shell, for dischargingnthe exhalation gas to atmosphere; and a therapeutic gasninlet port, provided on the mask shell adjacent to thenexhaust port. The therapeutic gas port is fluidlynconnected to a therapeutic gas source which supplies antherapeutic gas at a constant flow rate. The therapeuticngas port is oriented toward a portion of the insidenvolume of the nasal mask over the nose of the face of thenpatient using the nasal mask.
