abstract The subject of the invention is the use of phenyl-azo-benzenic compounds of formula (I) comprising at least one cationic group Z, Z being chosen from quaternized aliphatic chains, aliphatic chains comprising at least one saturated quaternized ring and aliphatic chains comprising at least one quaternized unsaturated cycle, as direct dyes in compositions intended for dyeing keratin materials and in particular compositions intended for dyeing human keratin fibers and in particular hair, the dye compositions containing them and the direct dyeing process using them.
