titleOfInvention | Molecular reinforced polymeric composition |
abstract | The invention relates to a molecularnreinforced polyamide composition comprising at leastnone linear or branched polyamide and a hyperbranchednporous aromatic polymeric macromolecule which comprisesnrigid aromatic recurring units, the macromolecule alsoncomprising at least one site on which at least onenlinear or branched polyamide chain is attached, thenfunctional group optionally functionalized with anfunctional group that comprises an initiator moleculenfor an anionic polyamide polymerisation reaction.nThe composition according to the invention isnhomogeneous in the melt and shows at least the samenimprovement of mechanical properties (especially thenmodulus, strength and strain-at-break) as thencomposition according to the state of the art. Thencomposition according to the invention is preferablynobtained by copolymerizing the hyperbranchednmacromolecule with the monomers from which thenpolyamide is formed. If at least site of thenhyperbranched porous aromatic polymeric macromoleculenis functionalized with a functional group thatncomprised an initiator molecule for an anionicnpolyamide polymerisation reaction, the compatibilitynbetween the hyperbranched macromolecule and the polymernmatrix is improved, such that the rate of dissolutionnand the amount of hyperbranched macromolecule that cannbe dissolved in the polyamide matrix is enhanced andnhence, a composition with further improved mechanicalnproperties is obtained. |
