abstract An implantable anti-tachyarrhythmia device whichndelivers anti-tachyarrhythmia therapies to a patient'snheart in response to detection of tachyarrhythmias. Thendevice defines first criteria indicating the presence ofnatrial fibrillation, and compares the time elapsed sincenthe either the first or second criteria were initiallynmet to a defined time duration. In response to thendefined duration having passed and either of the firstnor second criteria being met, the device triggersndelivery of an appropriate anti-tachyarrhythmia therapy.nThe timer is reset on detection of termination of atrialntachyarrhythmia, but not on failure of the first andnsecond criteria to be met. The first and secondncriteria are defined such that they cannot benconcurrently met.
