titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR PREPARING KETOPROFENE AND 5-BENZOYLE-3-METHYLE-2-INDOLINONE
abstract A process for producing ketoprofen by benzoylating 3-methyl-2-indolinone with a benzoyl halide, cleaving the amido bond forming the five-membered ring moiety of the formed 5-benzoyl-3-methyl-2-indolinone with a basic compound and replacing an aromatic amino group of the formed compound with a hydrogen atom. A very high yield of ketoprofen can be obtained through ordinary steps, which are short as a whole, without using chemicals of an extremely high toxicity such as cyanides or chemicals of a low handleability, such as liquid ammonia.
