abstract | Emulsions containing particles of annorganopolysiloxane with an average particle diameter of lessnthan 100 nanometer are prepared by (i) adding anpolyfunctional silane to an aqueous medium containing annonionic surfactant, an anionic or cationic surfactant and ancatalyst; (ii) allowing the polyfunctional silane tonhydrolyze; (iii) adding a cyclic siloxane to the aqueousnmedium containing the pre-hydrolyzed polyfunctional silane;n(iv) copolymerizing the cyclic siloxane and the pre-hydrolyzednpolyfunctional silane to form thenorganopolysiloxane; and (v) continuing copolymerizing stepn(iv) until the resulting organopolysiloxane has a viscosityngreater than 100,000,000 mPa·s. |
