titleOfInvention Media and methods for culturing plant embryos
abstract Media and methods are provided for developing plant embryos utilizing low levels of a metabolizable carbon source, generally less than one or two percent. Within certain variants, the invention further subjecting the embryos to water stress during development. The media of the invention comprise less than about 2% of a metabolizable carbon source in combination with sufficient non-permeating osmotica to effect water stressing.
