titleOfInvention | Process and device for the detection and the quantitative analysis of volatile substances |
abstract | A process and an installation for the detection and the quantitative analysis of volatile substances contained in a gaseous environment are described and claimed. These compounds have a low molecular weight and are in general ionisable. The process and installation work in the nanogram range. The gas that contains said compound(s) is circulated over a sensor comprising a thin layer of at least one calixarene, deposited on a support, at least one physical property thereof being able to undergo a change when the calixarene will have adsorbed said compound to be determined. This change of physical property constitutes a measure for the nature and the concentration of said volatile compound. Further, a sensor is disclosed where the morphological crystal organisation of the calixarene layer has been uniformed and equalised. This sensor is morphologically stable and yields fully reproducible results. |
