titleOfInvention | Thiacrown ether compound corrosion inhibitors for alkanolamine units. |
abstract | The corrosion of metals in contact with aqueous alkanolaminensolution in acid gas removal units is inhibited by adding to thenalkanolamine solution a corrosion inhibiting amount of a thiacrown etherncompound. The compounds are monomeric or polymeric and have fromn4 to about 10 sulfur atoms on each of the crown rings. The polymericnthiacrown ether ring structures are substituted with polymerizednethylenically unsaturated monomers and have from 4 to about 10 sulfurnatoms on each of the crown rings. In some embodiments of theninvention, a linkage "M" connects the thiacrown ether ring structures andnthe polymers and M is O; S; COO; C 1 to C 5 substituted or unsubstitutednlinear or branched alkylene wherein the substituent is OH, SH, F, Br, Cl,nI , COOH, amine, mono- or di- C 1 to C 5 alkylamino, C 1 to C 3 lowernalkanoylamino or nitro; or NR 6 where R 6 is H or C 1 to C 5 alkyl. |
