abstract The invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid of M. tuberculosis containing in itsnnucleotide sequence at least two overlapping ORF's which encode the following twonantigenic proteins, recognized by a pool of sera from tuberculous patients:n (i) B2 protein represented by SEQ ID N0 2, or a protein homologous to B2ncontaining in its amino acid sequence at least one conservative amino acidnsubstitution (according to Table 1) with respect to the sequence represented bynSEQ ID N0 2, and (ii) B3 protein represented by SEQ ID N0 3, or a protein homologous to B3ncontaining in its amino acid sequence at least one conservative amino acidnsubstitution (according to Table 1) with respect to the sequence represented bynSEQ ID N0 3, nor a fragment of said nucleic acid, said fragment containing at least 15, preferably atnleast 30 and more preferably at least 45 contiguous nucleotides of the sequence of saidnnucleic acid, and encoding at least one epitope of the B2 and/or B3 protein, or itsnhomologues.
