titleOfInvention Communication-disturbing agents and method for disturbing communication
abstract When a communication disruptant containing (Z)-11-tetradecen-1-ylnacetate as the only active ingredient isncontinually used for a period of 5 to 10 years, anphenomenon has been observed in which its communication-disruptingneffect on insect pests, particularly of thenfamily Tortricidae, living in the field or the like throughnsuccessive generations is reduced. Accordingly, it isneagerly desired to develop a new communication disruptantnwhich is also effective for such fields where thencommunication-disrupting effect (on insect pests, nparticularly of the family Tortricidae, living therenthrough successive generations) has been reduced. Thenpresent invention provides, for use in the control ofninsect pests having (Z)-11-tetradecen-1-yl acetatencontained in their sex pheromone, a communicationndisruptant containing (Z)-11-tetradecen-1-yl acetate andnthe maximum component in the composition of the sexnpheromone excepting (Z)-11-tetradecen-1-yl acetate, whereinnthe weight percentage of the maximum component in thencommunication disruptant is equal to a value obtained bynmultiplying the weight percentage of the maximum componentnin the sex pheromone by a number in the range of 2/100 ton50/100.
