Targeted delivery through a cationic amino acid transporter |
abstract |
The invention relates to the targeted delivery of substancesnto cells. The invention provides a virus-like particle orngene delivery vehicle provided with a ligand capable ofnbinding to a human amino acid transporter. Provided are fornexample ligands that can bind to the human transporter ofncationic L-amino acids (hCAT1). Such hCAT1 binding moleculesnfind applications in the design of vector systems for entryninto human or primate cells. Preferred are retroviralnenvelope molecules, which - when incorporated in a virusnparticle - can infect hCAT1 positive cells at highnfrequencies. Also within the scope of the invention arenmethods for the design of such hCAT1 binding molecules. |
